Epic is a global nonprofit startup launched in 2014 by tech entrepreneur Alexandre Mars. Its mission is to back outstanding non-profits and social enterprises changing the lives of disadvantaged youth. Epic's board covers all operational costs so that 100% of the money raised is entirely redirected to its portfolio of 29 organizations operating across 11 countries. More here.

Epic has a global team with offices in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris and Brussels. The work of the organization has been featured in reviews like Business Insider, Tech Crunch and Fast Company among others. Epic opened its San Francisco office in 2016 and is seeking an “entrepreneurial-minded” professional to work with its US Managing Director (based in SF) on growing Epic's West Coast community of donors and supporters.

Key Responsabilities

The key objectives of this position are to:

  • Develop and execute strategies to meet Epic's funding targets on the West Coast
    • Support the US Managing Director in managing relationships with West Coast based donors and pledgers, and gradually taking the lead on these relationships
    • Reach out to new targets creatively (HNWI, foundations, corporate partners, entrepreneurs, investors), with the support of the US Managing Director and Epic's local ambassadors to grow the community and bring in new donors
    • Establish and nurture a specific network of impact-sensitive individuals from the local startup / entrepreneurs / innovators ecosystem in the Valley to fuel the growth of our Epic Sharing Pledge community
    • Maintain updated records on salesforce for all outreach and on going discussions with donors and prospects
  • Execute and improve the engagement strategy for existing donors and pledgers, in close collaboration with Epic's Engagement and Partnership Manager based in NY
    • Assist in coordinating field visits for donors with the support of Epic's Program team (based in NY)
    • Manage regular touchpoints with donors and friends of Epic: creatively finding ways to connect with supporters and renew their support
    • Help design and execute events in the Bay Area and Los Angeles specifically (from intimate private gatherings to larger events - happy hours, panel discussions) to cultivate/activate our communities

Desirable skills

  • 2-3 years of experience in business development/fundraising with a variety of stakeholders (HNWI, entrepreneurs/founders, investors, foundations, corporate partners...)
  • Ability and appetite to work in a fast paced and international/multi-cultural environment
  • Versatile: you are as comfortable talking to a family foundation as you are with a corporate donor or entrepreneur. You find areas of alignment and are able to create mutally beneficial partnerships
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills
  • Passion for community building and bringing people together to support worthy causes
  • Experience designing and executing ambitious fundraising growth strategies a plus
  • An existing network of established connections in the Bay Area tech community a plus
