FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY – February 24, 2017 – Already known for pushing the envelope of donor experience with the Impact App they launched last April, Epic Foundation is now pioneering an entirely new kind of journey – this time in a world of virtual reality. Premiered at the Foundation’s fundraising series of galas in Paris, Brussels, London, New York, San Francisco, and Mumbai, the collection of VR short films showing the work of the NGOs in Epic’s portfolio are now generally available and can be experienced on YouTube, Facebook and Samsung and Google VR headsets.

The collection holds 12 films in all, each designed to serve as a window into the work of a not-for-profit organization improving the lives of children and youth.

Each film follows one organization, providing an overview of the resources that are given to beneficiaries through contributions and how future donations will continue to shape the lives of society’s most vulnerable members. The films are meant to serve as a two-way conversation around giving, and in keeping up with Epic’s model of transparency, to demonstrate to donors the reach of their charity.

The series is the first of its kind and marks a turn in how VR can be used in the nonprofit world. The work of TG Herrington, an award-winning Director and Producer, the films were shot across 4 continents, often under extreme conditions. “Previously VR was used to provide a novelty experience, but this is the first time that it underpins an entire journey of exploration spanning 12 locations in the world into a coherent narrative that articulates global impact” he explains.

Epic Foundation’s Founder & CEO, Alexandre Mars, points to the films as an indication of the resources the Foundation is providing donors to connect them with their impact. “This is the first time an organization is able to systematically change the conversation around social good and bring compelling transparency to existing and prospective donors. VR enables them to visualize how their donations change the life of a child, whether it’s by watching them learn how to code and prepare for a career in a technology-driven world, or receive access to basic healthcare at the hands of a qualified nurse. There is no more guessing as to where your money is going.
