Launched in NYC,
Aiming to Disrupt
Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Alexandre Mars, disruptive non-profit bridges the gap between a new generation of donors and organizations supporting children and youth globally
January 29, 2015 (New York, NY) – Founded in 2014, Epic Foundation's goal is to motivate more philanthropists, corporations, and foundations to fund organizations fighting inequities faced by children and youth around the world. CEO and founder Alexandre Mars and his team are developing new tools that will enhance how donors select, monitor and experience their impact. Their vision is to disrupt the philanthropic industry by combining technology and partnerships with change-making leadership.
The organization is one hundred percent not-for-profit and open-source; Epic Foundation’s board has pledged to cover all operating costs, enabling one hundred percent of donations to flow directly to social organizations supported by the foundation.
“We are aiming to change how people give using the same disruptive mindset I have used in the social, mobile and web industries throughout my career,” Alexandre said. “We are building tools of today for donors of today.” His motivation for starting the foundation stems from his deeply rooted, mission-driven values: “I founded Epic Foundation because I believe we have a real opportunity to help impact the lives of children and youth, no matter where they are born.”
Epic Foundation will work with nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and social enterprises that enhance education, economic empowerment, health, rights and protection for children and youth across East Africa, Southeast Asia, Western Europe, the United States, Brazil and India.
Earlier this month, it launched its 2015 global selection process and toolkit to identify high-impact organizations. The selection tool and process was developed with insights from the world’s leading foundations, think-tanks and experts.
